The traditional ceremony

In the royal library Kyujanggak, there are 31 sets of records describing the crowning and consort of the son of the crown prince. Among them we have 11 sets of records for crown prince. Considering the life span of the Chosun Dynasty, many documents seem to have been lost during and around the Chosun-Japan War in the late 16th century. As the heir to the throne, the crown prince goes through the crowning ceremony, which is the most important rite of passage to become the next king.
