The Crown Princess’s Headpiece

The wife of the Crown Prince was required to wear the Daesu(Daesoo), a ceremonial wig/headpiece shown in the picture above. It is known to be elegant and intricate (and also extremely heavy, especially because of the 31cm-long binyeo)!

On the headpiece, a peg was attached to a thick plate of white jade. At the centre of the jade, the wonsoomoon(with two phoenixes at the side) and dangchomoon was carved. On the frame of the white jade, a floral medallion and lucky flower patterns were engraved, with a number of pearls and beads for decoration.
